IN THE LAB
As a research assistant in the Center for Air-Sea Interaction in the Division of Applied Marine Physics, I am partially responsible for operation of the SUSTAIN (SUrge-STructure-Atmosphere INteraction) facility. Our group uses the main wind-wave tank in this state-of-the-art facility to simulate conditions as calm as a placid lake or as energetic as a Cat-5 hurricane. Its unique combination of size and power make it an incredible platform for air-sea interaction studies, allowing for careful manipulation of externally-forced wind and wave inputs. This provides for the opportunity to make precise oceanographic-style measurements in a variety of conditions.
